here's what's new

thought it would never happen ...

Since I am friends with my mom's cousins on Facebook, and there are a few of her friends also on there, I went ahead and opened an account for her.  She is very excited about it; however, she is a bit clueless on what to do first.  I will need to sit down with her (hopefully over the weekend) to teach her the in's/out's of using FB.  I didn't think she would ever take part in joining FB, but glad she took the leap.

Speaking of FB, I reconnected with a friend that I grew up with from birth until the third grade.  We were next door neighbors, and you can say that he was definitely my first crush.  Oh how I remember the days of making/eating mud pies. 

For this week's One Little Word - Captured photo, I decided to take a picture of a book that is on my "to read" list.

 
I'm hoping that when I finally have time to read "The Happiness Project" that it will not only help me in bringing more "happiness" to my life (even though I am very happy), but that there will be a lesson on patience in there too.

I'm going to close today asking all of you to say a little prayer for my dear friend Christine.  She hasn't been feeling very well over the past week and is having some tests done.  She is such a kind soul, so please keep her in your prayers.

a little glimpse ...

Rebecca's room is FINALLY painted ... she is only 14-month's old now.  Now I just need to go out and get her a rug for in front of her crib and curtains for the windows.  I can't wait to get her back into her room.  We moved her crib into the spare room this week, and I think she feels misplaced in there.

Tomorrow is a BIG day for me.  My dear friend (who married my cousin ... thanks to me), my cousin, and their twins are coming for a visit.  I haven't seen them in almost eight years.  They were living in Florida, but now currently live in NC.  They came up to visit family in Connecticut this week, and they are going to cruise through NJ to see us.  I CAN'T WAIT.

Today is my talented and inspirational friend Laura Vegas's birthday.  Her creativity in the scrapbooking/card making world, has inspired me for years.  She is always quick to respond if I have a question for her, and she is always there to give wonderful advice.

his drawings ...

I came home yesterday to find a few "Nicholas" drawings on the refrigerator.

There was this one which lists Nicholas and Becca's favorite food, color, and thing (not sure how Nicholas knows those are Becca's favorites, but thought it was cute anyway).

 
And this one shows how old they are (even though he was a month off on Becca's age).

 
And, here is the layout I created last night.  I'm not thrilled with how it came out, but I wanted to get it done in time for Idol last night.  By the way, did you watch Idol?  Who do you want to win tonight?

  Looking forward to having dinner with two of my friends tonight, Arlene and Nancy.  They are bringing over pizza because they promised Nicholas that we would all have pizza together.  It should be a fun night.

still keeping up ...

I'm still keeping up with the LOAD (layout a day) challenge; however, when I've gone to upload my layouts to my blog the past two days, my internet connection is lost and I don't have time to keep trying to upload the pictures.  I promise to post my layouts from over the weekend (and today's layout) as soon as I can.  The layout below is one that I created on Friday ... the challenge was all about color.

 

We had friends over on Saturday night.  It was so great to see them ... it definitely had been WAY too long since our last visit with them, and we promised each other that we wouldn't do that again. 

Nicholas had a blast playing t-ball and drawing with chalk with Peter.  Nicholas is all set now ... he received a 100-piece chalk set from them ... thanks so much Pete, Nancy, and Peter.

Nanny and Poppy are coming to visit this week.  Nicholas is so excited - he's been counting down the days until they arrive.

old memories ...

Ok, so I have to admit ... I had to ask some of my Kindergarten graduate peeps what year we graduated Kindergarten.  I couldn't remember if it was 1978 or 1979.  Well, it was 1979, so I had to redo my title and the date within my journaling block, but who would ever know that I changed anything, right?

I went and took Becca to have her three-month pictures taken today.  I was pretty happy with how they turned out.  I guess it helps that she is such a little ham.  I'll be posting some of her photos soon.

rebecca's christening ...

We woke up Sunday morning to find the weather outside to be like a monsoon.  Of course, it was the day of Rebecca's Christening.  I think lots of people were sending good vibes our way, because by 11am it was only spritzing (is that a word) out.

I waited until the last minute to get Becca dressed ... didn't want her dress to get too wrinkled, and I didn't want her or anyone else to get anything on her dress.  Nicholas came upstairs to help me get Becca dressed and take some pictures.  Most of the pictures he took came out blurry since he was too close, but he did capture this photo (excuse the way my hair looks ... I don't know what happened to it that day).

 

When we got to the church there was a bit of a mix up.  The priest misplaced Rebecca's certificate (let's just say I was fuming just a bit).  There were two baptisms going on when we got there and we were supposed to have the ceremony start at 12:30pm with them; however, it didn't happen.  We waited until the other two baptisms were done, and then I went to talk to the priest about doing Rebecca's Christening.  I had family in from out of town, and no matter what, I needed her to be baptized on Sunday.  So, without any hesitation, the priest and deacon accepted the fact that they messed up, and told us that Rebecca would be baptized.

The ceremony was beautiful ... Rebecca was so good ... didn't even cry when they poured the water over her little head.

After church, we went and had lunch at a restaurant in town.  It was a nice afternoon to spend with friends and family.

We are truly BLESSED! 

a little sunshine ...

egg hunt fun ...

On Saturday, the working mom's group that I belong to had an egg hunt.  I think it was the biggest event we've had since the group started two year's ago.  Everyone brought something with them (milk, cupcakes, sandwiches, etc.), so one person didn't have to go crazy to get/make all the food (plus spend all the money).

The kids had fun running around the big field picking up eggs.  To make the day even more special, the weather was gorgeous ... in the seventies.  We couldn't have asked for better weather.

Becca hung out in her car seat (until she got hungry).  She enjoyed being outside.

So much for the beautiful weather we had for the past few days ... now we are supposed to get rain for the next two days.
