here's what's new

in the evening ...

The theme for 52 Photos - 52 Weeks last week was to take an "evening" picture.  This could have been a picture of anything you do during the evening hours ... eating, homework, giving the kids bathes, watching TV, etc. 

I decided to take a picture of the swing set in our backyard during one of the nights this past week.  It shows you that we still have snow on the ground (and are expecting more snow tonight).  It makes be sad to not be able to enjoy the swingset year round ... but it gives us something to look forward to in the spring.

 
When I find the time, I want to play around with this photo in PhotoShop.  I think I can definitely bring out more of the colors and not have it look so dark (even though it was shot at night).

she is independent ...

The theme for the 52 Photos - 52 Weeks challenge this past week was INDEPENDENCE.  This one was pretty easy for me, because Becca was the first person that came to mind.  She is completely independent these days in working her way around the house.

She has found the stairs in our house, and will sit or knell at the bottom and look up.  Sometimes she will even bring a ball to the stairs and roll it around.  It's always so fun to see what she is going to do next; however, I think we need to invest in another baby gate soon because those stairs and that very determined little girl (together) scare me.

it's all about the pictures ...

I am challenging myself this year to take more (better) pictures of our everyday lives.  There is always so much to capture, and I don't want to miss a thing.  This may mean more photos to scrapbook (or maybe not), but I feel like I missed out on so many things last year by being too lazy, or busy to grab the camera.  This year, I'm going to try to carry my camera around with me every day (and it's not a compact camera either).  I just don't want to say to myself ... "Man, I wish I had my camera with me so I can capture the "moment."

In addition to my Project Life (picture a day), and Jill's One Little Word - Captured challenge, I'm also participating in a challenge called 52 Photos - 52 Weeks.

There will be a photo theme each week to help you on that search for the perfect picture.  The prompt last week ... Take a photo on January 1 at 20:11.

 
Here's to "looking up" in 2011. 

This week's challenge is "independence."  Have to think really hard on this one ... tune in next week to find out what "moment" I capture.

All of my photos will be kept in an album to the left for easy viewing.
