Last night, Rob and Nicholas and father and son friends of ours, decided they were going to camp out in our backyard. They arrived around 7pm with some yummy steaks/sausage to grill and went right out in back to set up their tents before darkness hit.
Here are their tents all set up.
And you can see that we purchased a smaller pool for the backyard this year. We thought instead of opening our big pool we would purchase a smaller one to keep down the costs this summer. We just put it up yesterday, so it wasn't yet filled with water. Well that didn't stop Nicholas and Tommy from going in yesterday (boy was it COLD). Here they are having fun.
And Nicholas sporting his "purple lips" because the water was so cold.
And here are the boys after their little adventure in the pool. They went on a little joy ride around the backyard.
It was a great evening for everyone ...
- I had a scavenger hunt for the boys (with prizes)
- We got to roast marshmallows
- The boys got to play in the yard, in the pool, on the swings, in the jeep
- Great steaks/sausage for the adults and chicken fingers/fries for the boys
- The temperature outside couldn't have been better
Even though Nicholas didn't end up sleeping outside (he wanted his nightly chocolate milk and then he fell asleep on my lap on the couch), everyone had a great time.
Today, we all (Rob, Nicholas, and I) ventured in the pool (it was only in the mid-60's degrees). Talk about feeling numb. I think we'll wait a little longer for it to warm up.
Oh, and here is my 12 of 12 layout for June.
Till next time ...

so jealous of your huge backyard! a campout sounds like so much fun ... even if little dude did end up inside the house. lol!
